Albanian Premier Edi Rama considers the relations between Albania and Serbia as normalized, saying the good neighboring and mutual cooperation is what the governments of both countries should choose for a better future of their peoples. Rama spoke from Marrakech, Morocco, where he was invited in the World Policy Conference (WPC), along with Serbian PM Ana Brnabic.

Speaking about the perspective of the regional cooperation, the Albanian PM highlighted that, by recognizing Kosovo, Serbia will make a big step forward and will free itself from the burdens of the past.

“Kosovo is a Republic today. It’s there and functions as a sovereign, independent country, with its institutions and, I am happy to say, with a very admirable model of respect for the minorities, first of all for the Serbian minority, which is represented in the Parliament and Government. By recognizing Kosovo, Serbia will make a big step forward and free itself from a burden of the past, which is an obstacle to see towards the future”, Rama said.

The Albanian PM added it is of an utmost importance for the West Balkans countries to be part of the European project as an extra factor for a safer Europe. He said the today’s Balkans is clearly positioned towards the European Union and is working hard for that perspective.
