Durrës District Prosecution will start an investigation over the procedure of extradition of Nezar Seiti per request of Italian authorities, despite of the fact he was under investigation in Albania as well, which makes his leaving the country illegal.

The investigation on Seiti was in its last months, which is a well-known fact, but even if the opposite were true it is unknown how the courts, prosecution offices, Ministry of Justice and the Directorate of Prisons will excuse their lack of knowledge.

There is an online system at the Ministry of Justice to verify if anyone is under inquiry.

By the other hand, the General Directorate of Prisons is the second institutions that should offer information to the Ministry about what charges Seiti was in detention since October 2017 for. The Directorate of Prisons should inform whether he was detained on account of the investigation started by the Prosecution for Serious Crimes or because he was wanted by the Italian authorities.

The third institution, the Directorate of Foreign Jurisdiction Relations didn’t do its job too, since it should coordinate the data on this citizen among the Tirana’s District Prosecution and the Prosecution for Serious Crimes.

The last persons under inquiry by the Durrës Prosecution are the prosecutors themselves, since the Prosecutor of Tirana was declared in favor of the extradition, because, according to her, there is no investigation over Nezar Seiti.

The prosecutors for Serious Crimes of the Habilaj-Tahiri dossier will also be verified, following a notification by Seiti’s attorney, Detar Hysi.

Hysi asked the Prosecution for Serious Crimes to start acting because his client was being extradited to Italy.
