Democratic Party MP Edmond Spaho said in the parliament today that the port of Durrës concession will make the economies in Albania and Kosovo die. Spaho said the port of Durrës is the biggest public asset of Albania and the government’s project of redevelopment could be fatal for the economy. The project envisions moving the commercial port to a new location, whereas the current area will turn into a tourism port. This project has raised many questions among the experts and the Albanian opposition.

“A lot has been said about this project, especially by the Prime Minister and his deputy”, said Spaho. “Many untrue things, many lies were said. The port of Durres is the biggest asset that Albania has. Without it, the Albanian economy will die, Kosovo’s too. It is a historic port and along with its surroundings it has a great ecological wealth”.
