Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha repeated his accusations for the corruptive affair of the Port of Durrës, saying Prime Minister Edi Rama and his brother Olsi Rama stand behind the investing company. Berisha said it is the biggest corruptive affair in Europe.

“The construction land only costs €3 billion. The construction of Albania’s “Dubai” will cost 3 or 4 billion Euros”, said Berisha.

“All these from a company, whose owner of 60% is unknown, because it belongs to Edi and Olsi Rama. Edi Rama would never hide a company worth billions unless it was his personally”.

“Edi Rama has given himself the status of a strategic investor, excluded from VAT and other taxes. He has also excluded himself and the (Serbian) brothers Karić from the infrastructure tax and other taxes. He has used identical schemes like Lukashenko in Belarus with the Karić brothers”.

Albania’s former Prime Minister also said Rama has violated articles 70, 71, and 74 of the Agreement of Stabilization and Association with EU which obligates Albania to obey the competition and full transparency rules.

“Through this mega-affair, Rama has deprived Albania, but also EU and NATO, of a thousand-year old port. The EU Committee of Transports has defined the port of Durrës as one of the two strategic ports in the region”, added Berisha. “Rama made shameful efforts to involve NATO in the affair. NATO’s Secretary General understood it was a corruption trap of a person that robs his own country”.
