A former senior FBI official, named Charles McGonigal, who is suspected by American prosecutors of ties with Russia, turns out to have business activity in Albania.

Syri TV revealed in an exclusive report that Premier Edi Rama’s buddy McGonigal, at the time he was lobbying for a meeting in the United States, opened a company in Albania, where he was appointed as its administrator after purchasing shares.

According to the documents obtained at the National Business Center, McGonigal is a shareholder and administrator of the company "Law Office and Investigation". In addition to him and at the same time, Agron Neza, who is also mentioned in the documents of having contacts with the Russians, and another former FBI agent, Mark Thomas Rossini, who is currently on trial in Puerto Rico over fraud charges and conspiracy, became shareholders of the company.

McGonigal is known for his links to Prime Minister Edi Rama, which is confirmed also by officials of the Prime Minister's Office who told “Business Insider” that their friendship was not based on business relations or institutional cooperation.

However, the documents obtained exclusively by Syri TV prove the opposite. At the exact time that Edi Rama asked McGonigal for a meeting in the US to shape his anti-corruption initiative, the latter opened a company in Albania for this purpose. It turns out that the shares were bought in April 2019 by lawyer Shefqet Dizdari.

But after Rama's plan with McGonigal was blocked by the FBI, the former agent shut down the company in Albania. It is now suspended and with no activity performed during the 7-month ownership.

As the scenario failed to materialize, looks like a second Albanian national, whose name appears in the document published by Insider, was more successful. Dorjan Duçka, an associate of Prime Minister Edi Rama appears again in the list of communications of the former FBI agent.

Duçka is also a lobbyist on behalf of Edi Rama, on whose account he has arranged various meetings. The last meeting Duçka intermediated for Edi Rama was with Facebook boss Mark Zukenberg in a gala organized by the German newspaper Bild. Pictures from the event have revealed Edi Rama's links to Duçka. It now remains to be clarified what role Duçka played in his contacts with the former FBI agent, accused by the authorities of having ties to the Russia.
