The Democratic Party condemned in a press release Premier Edi Rama’s latest attack on the media. On joint press conference with Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka on Friday, Rama intervened after A2 CNN reporter Klevi Muka asked a question to Xhaçka which he did not like. Rama said the reporter will be put in reeducation for three months and he will be welcome in his press conferences only in October, “hopefully reeducated”.

This is repeated bullying, as months ago Rama did the same thing with Syri TV reporter Ambrozia Meta.

The Secretary for Public Relations in the Democratic Party Jola Hysaj said the Democratic Party condemns Rama’s attacks and the self-censorship he’s trying to impose on media like nowhere in Europe.

“Similar attitudes can be found only in Erdogan’s Turkey, Putin’s Russia, and Kim’s North Korea”, she said.

The Democratic Party also asked the foreign representatives in Tirana to join the reaction against the censorship.

“When journalists are in danger not to exercise their profession, Albania is in danger”, said Hysaj.
