Albanian Minister of State for Standards and Services Milva Ekonomi made a few jaws drop in the parliament today when she compared the Albania’s growth in the first trimester of 2022 with that of EU members.
Referring to figures from Instat, the Albanian Institution of Statistics, Ekonomi said: “Now it is an important fact that Albania marked a 5.97% growth in the first trimester, which is comparable to EU countries, where the average is 5.6 %. Meanwhile, it is the highest growth in the region”.
Vice Premier Arben Ahmetaj said the government is planning to deliver another aid package for the classes in need in September, but added consume and savings have grown.
"Our economy is the only one in the region that has kept a 6% growth. Why has consume of the population grown? How is it possible that the oil price is the highest in Europe and meanwhile consuming, trading, construction have grown? Do you ask why savings have grown too? And, which is the reason for the growth of the investments”, asked Ahmetaj in the parliament.
