Albanian Premier Edi Rama, Tirana’s Mayor Erion Veliaj, and former Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha should be sanctioned by the United States instead of former Premier and President Sali Berisha who follows a pro-West line, said CDU consultant Martin Henze in an interview with Syri TV. Mr. Henze said Berisha will be welcomed in Berlin and Europe in June.

He described as “unprecedented” the US Ambassador Yuri Kim’s meddling in the internal affairs of the Democratic Party, saying it is personal against Berisha. Henze also commented the Open Balkans initiative, an idea of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, saying Russian President Vladimir Putin is hiding behind the project.
