Back in 2009, when Albanian was preparing to join NATO under Sali Berisha’s leadership as head of the government, today’s Premier Edi Rama, then leader of the opposition, not only protested against membership but also said NATO has no relation to Albania’s problems and concerns.

Olta Xhaçka, today Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, lately involved in a corruptive mega-scandal, used to say NATO is like “nata”, the Albania word for night.

In the wake of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, Premier Rama brags every day with the fact that Albania is a NATO member. He didn’t forget to do the same thing last night on the Opinion TV show on TV Klan.

Rama’s hypocrisy did not go unnoticed from the viewers.

One asked him: “Why don’t you say that Sali Berisha added Albania to NATO instead of giving merits to yourself? That’s not your achievement”.

Rama responded it wasn’t Berisha that made Albania a NATO member.

The man that has made no step forward for the country’s integration in EU said: “Albania became a NATO member from the United States, just like they wanted to make Macedonia, Ukraine, and Georgia. But they could reach the consensus only for Albania in the Alliance table and so Albania became a NATO member. Anything else is a legend of our politic village”.
