Albanian Premier Edi Rama accepted no responsibilities concerning the waste incinerators today, telling the parliamentary inquiry commission that his job is to lead, and it is the state apparatus duty to deal with the other issues.

“A Prime Minister is elected to lead and leading means what and how. What we shall do and how we shall do that”, Rama said in his testimony before the commission. “There is an entire state machinery there to do its job with all the links of the chain. This is what I can say”.

“I want to testify here as a Prime Minister and you need to address me questions as Prime Minister”, Rama told commission chairwoman Jorida Tabaku. “You do not know how a government meeting works and you’re not to blame, because you’ve never been there. A government’s meeting is the culmination of a legislative process that starts from the basic sector which is in need for the act in case, in combination with other sector. It passes through several filters and comes to me. That’s why I said a Prime Minister is for where we’re going to. How will we get there? How shall we do it? For the other things there is an entire state machinery”, Rama said.

Asked whether he remembered the government’s meetings where the decisions for the incinerators were made, Rama responded ironically: “I remember only one government meeting, the one deciding for Ismail Qemali’s picture”.
