The Democratic Party of Albania (PD) reacted immediately after the declaration of the head of a criminal organization, Astrit Avdyli, who admitted before the judge he had served to Mayor of Durrës Vangjush Dako and the Socialist Party (PS).

Avdyli was arrested in a joint operation with the participation of Albanian, German and US agents.

Democrat MP Luçiano Boçi told the media reporters today that “the declaration of Avdyli in the courtroom about his friendship with Vangjush Dako should have alarmed the Prosecution Office that must investigate the Mayor of Durrës immediately”.

“Vangjush Dako lied publically when he said he had communicated with Avdyli’s group only during the electoral campaing. The truth is he has a friendly relationship with the gang that smuggles drugs from South America to Europe, he has used the gang to buy votes in exchange of favours from his and Edi Rama’s power”, Boçi said.

“The gang’s head proved today Vangjush Dako is a hostage and he can no longer use the alibi he communicates with the electors and only in the citizens’ interests”.

“Astrit Avdyli proved today to Albanian citizens Dako and he do not share only the problems of votes, but also the problems of the special forces when they knock on his door, he also is concerned about receiving bids for public jobs in Durrës; public licenses, and about the illegal registration of real estate”.

“Edi Rama is trying to block the file 339, because Dako’s arrest would offer legal evidence for the opposition’s denouncement that the elections of 2017 were bought out”.
