Democrat MP Flamur Noka has revealed today a “scandalous decision” of the Albanian Premier Edi Rama to honor Gafurr Mazreku, the former Socialist MP who shot Democrat MP Azem Hajdari in the parliament house, with the honorary title Citizen Emeritus of Has. Noka urged Rama to renounce his decision immediately.
“Two decades after the life attempt against Azem Hajdari in the parliament house, the shooter, Socialist MP at that time, Gafurr Mazreku, has been proposed by Edi Rama to be given the title Citizen Emeritus”, Noka writes.
“Honoring a deputy that has used a gun in the parliament house against Azem Hajdari is the model Edi Rama has been following from the moment he rose to power. It’s a model that honors and empowers criminals in the parliament, government and municipalities, like it was the case with Elvis Roshi, Mark Frroku, Arben Ndoka and other like them. It’s a model that protects the crime linked to government, like it’s the case with Saimi Tahiri, and Agron and Fatmir Xhafaj”.
“We appeal to Edi Rama to renounce this scandalous decision that kills for the second time the leader of the December (1990) Movement, Azem Hajdari”.
Azem Hajdari, founder and first chairman of the Democratic Party, survived Mazreku’s gunshots in 1997, but was assassinated in September 12, 1998, outside the party’s headquarters.
