The Albanian State Intelligence Service (SHISH) has been shadowed by scandals recently as it is revealed the new head of the Service, Oljan Kanushi, has family relations by marriage with a former fighter of the Islamic State, presumed dead.

Syri TV understands Kanushi is related through his wife to a man of Tirana, with the initials A.D., 44, who years ago joined the Islamic State in Syria. According to the latest information, the man was killed in Syria, but his death remains unconfirmed.

The ISIS fighter was the uncle’s son of Kanushi’s wife, also with the initials A.D.

Questions are raised how much is compromised the work of SHISH for the discovery of the terrorist organizations and elements in the country when its head has family relations with a terrorist fighter.

That’s not all, because the Service seems to take a series of blows ever since Tanushi was appointed. Immediately after taking the job, Kanushi ordered the transfer from the central headquarters in Tirana to Dibër of Roland Cenaliu who was the chief of the anti-terror section of SHISH that has investigated Tanushi’s relative that joined ISIS.

The official motive for Cenaliu’s transfer is not clear, but allegedly it has to do with his investigation over Tanushi’s familiar circle.

Cenaliu was the contact person in SHISH for the foreign partner agencies in the fight against terror.
