The Albanian government has introduced published the project budget for 2023. It is understood, the budget also includes the restore of sports betting as of January 1, 2023, which is expected to generate revenues worth 2 billion Albanian Lek from taxes.

A special tax is introduced for electricity producers who export it abroad. The additional profits of these companies that have been generated exclusively from the price increase in the stock market will be taxed with 33%. This special tax is expected to bring €71 million to the budget.

The draft also notes the expected increase in expenses to €5.8 billion.

Meanwhile, in an election year, public investments, not including the reconstruction program, will increase by a full €200 million. In its efforts to deal with the energy crisis, the government foresees an additional grant of €102 million for the sector.
