New Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj’s brother Agron Xhafaj has been under investigation for drugs trafficking from the Italian police.
SYRI.net has secured the wiretap of Italian police, made available to the Albanian police, which, in turn, did not act.
Agron Xhafaj, the brother of Socialist MP Fatmir Xhafaj, former chairman of the defunct parliamentary commission for the Judiciary Reform and proposed as the new interior minister by Premier Edi Rama, is waiting for the sentence ruling from the Tribunal of Lecce in Italy, which is judging a criminal group of Albanians, involved in international traffic and trade of narcotics.
The investigations for the criminal group took place in the period 2000-2001 from Lecce’s Directory of Anti-Mafia and there are at least seven proven cases that Agron Xhafaj has been actively involved in buying and selling marijuana, heroin and cocaine in the Italian market.
According to the investigations, Agron Xhafaj dealt in Bologna, Salento, Florence, Parma and other cities, where he sold the drugs bought mainly in Albania.
US DEA was also involved in the investigation, because the group of Albanians, which Xhafaj was a member of, trafficked drugs also from Italy to the United States.
Agron Xhafaj also tried unsuccessfully the traffic of narcotics from Italy to Poland, where the local brokers did not like the quality of stuff he offered.
