The Albanian Democratic Party reacted today after the detention in the port of Durrës of a tanker with 22,500 tons of contraband oil from Russia and Libya.

STATEMENT OF THE Democratic Party

The Prime Minister of as country that is abandoned daily, in addition to encouraging (Serbian President Aleksandar) Vučić to say NO to sanctions against Russia, lends a hand himself, allowing the smuggling of Russian oil into Albanian ports and breaking the Western embargo.

While the free world is at war, the Head of the Government and his cronies try to take advantage of the global crisis.

The detention in the port of Durrës of a ship with 22,500 tons of contraband oil happened two days ago.

The seizure of the vessel cannot be applauded as good work by law enforcement agencies, because as media and confidential reports testify, for every vessel seized several dozen are allowed to continue unloading.

The seized ship with thousands of tons of oil came from Russia, a country under US and EU sanctions.

Ships with Russian oil, or from embargoed areas such as Libya and Syria, are no longer news for the police and media chronicles.

Apparently, Rama and his oligarchs speak of West with their mouths, but behind their backs, whenever they get the chance and for personal gain, they make pacts with all the enemies of the free countries.

Opening Durrës and the Adriatic to Russian ships, an old dream of Moscow, is a double national betrayal. Doing so in wartime, when the Ukrainian people are striving for freedom and survival, is global treason.

We say to our international friends: Edi Rama can no longer consume the good credits of the Albanian people with the governments of your countries.

It's time for you to say “Enough!” to this war profiteer.

Indifference, both at home and abroad, harms the image, kills the future of the country, and makes Albania a nominal ally without real values.
