Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha said in his weekly press conference today that Prime Minister Edi Rama must step down because he has abandoned his duty. The former Prime Minister was referring to the fact that his successor has missed most of the government cabinet meetings unlike his homologues around the world.

“With absolute arrogance, Edi Rama says he goes to the parliament whenever he likes, despite the fact that the Constitution has clear definitions for the Prime Minister’s obligation to the parliament”, said Berisha.

“This person goes to the government meetings only when he decides for big stealing, out of 48 cabinet meetings he has been present only in 19. (Deputy PM) Belinda (Balluku) is the one that lays down the law there. He runs the government through SMSs, the same as he does with (Speaker) Lindita in the parliament”.

“There is no place in the world where a Prime Minister is present in only 19 out of 49 meetings and does not step down. A Prime Minister has the obligation to chair the cabinet meetings with rare exemptions. A Prime Minister that does not respond to his duty is a terrible parasite, a thief that steals from dawn to dusk. A Prime Minister must never be absent, if it passes the six months he must step down”.
