The Socialist majority in the Albanian parliament has expelled 18 opposition MPs for ten days and plans to expel four others. The Socialists have proposed the expulsion from the plenary sessions and parliamentary commissions. The decision will be taken in the meeting of the Ethics Secretariat that will take place on Wednesday, February 15, at 14:00.

The four MPs that could be expelled are from the Democratic Party parliamentary group and include the party chairman and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Flamur Noka, Edi Paloka, and the opposition candidate for Tirana’s Municipality Belind Këlliçi.

The Albanian parliament continues to refuse debates for the Rama-McGonigal scandal. Parliament Speaker Lindita Nikolla is expelling Democrat MPs only because they are speaking about the affair in the parliament.

Despite such a brutal and anti-democratic conduct against the opposition, no foreign diplomat in Tirana has reacted about the scandal. Former Member of the European Parliament Doris Pack has criticized the silence of the European Ambassadors to Albania in a time when the Albanian parliament is being misused by Premier Edi Rama.

“The Socialist majority in the national parliament expelled 18 members of the opposition for 10 days from the plenary. No ambassador, neither EU nor OSCE react. DP wants discussion and answers on possible involvement of PM Rama in the corruption affair of US/FBI Agent”, Pack tweeted.
