The historic leader of the Albanian Democrats Sali Berisha returned today to the Democratic Party headquarters after the Court of Tirana recognized as legal the decisions of the Democrat National Assembly of December 11, 2021. The Assembly voted modifications of the party statutes, decided to dismiss former chairman Lulzim Basha and the party leadership appointed by him, and establish a Commission for the Re-founding of the Democratic Party, which is now recognized officially as the new leadership.

Earlier, several members of the Commission for the Re-founding of the Democratic Party went to the headquarters where they were received by Enkelejd Alibeaj, the acting chairman that was appointed by Basha before his formal resignation a few days ago, and Secretary General Gazment Bardhi.

Berisha went to the party headquarters escorted by other members of the Commission for the Re-founding. The Commission members are currently holding a meeting with Alibeaj and Bardhi, in the latter’s office.
