The Court of Tirana recognized today as legal the new Statute of the Democratic Party that was voted in the extraordinary Democrat National Assembly of December 11, 2021, also known as the Assembly of the Re-founding of the Democratic Party.

After the Court’s ruling, the Democratic Party will have a new Statute. Now the Commission for the Re-founding of the Democratic Party, consisting of 20 members, is officially the leadership of the party.

According to the court ruling, the new logo of the Democratic Party will be recognized and all the current party structures will be considered as invalid.

The new Statute provisions the end of the chairperson’s mandate without the right to re-run should the party lose a general election. Loss in the local election could trigger a vote of confidence for the chairperson that must be voted with at least 70% of the membership votes to keep his post.
