US Ambassador to Albania Yuri Kim has visited Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha in his office today at 16:00.
Ambassador Kim and Chairman Basha will talk about the situation created within the opposition ranks after Basha decided to expel former chairman Sali Berisha from the Democrat parliamentary group at the United States request. Last May, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken banned Berisha and his family from entering the United States, allegedly for significant corruption. Berisha filed a lawsuit for defamation against Blinken at the Correctional Court of Paris, France. Basha said Berisha would not be allowed in the Democrat parliamentary group until he resolves his legal dispute with Blinken and the US Department of State.
This is the first meeting after Basha’s decision to ban the former President of Albania from joining the parliamentary group.
