Former Albanian Premier Sali Berisha will hold a meeting with Democratic Party base today at 18:00 at Hotel Rogner in Tirana, to talk about Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha’s decision to expel him from the Democrat parliamentary group. Berisha refused to comply and said is determined to return the sovereignty to the Democratic Party. Basha took the decision under pressure from the US Embassy in Tirana to dissociate from Berisha after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken banned him from entering the United States on the grounds of significant corruption. Berisha defied Blinken to show proof to support his decision, saying such proof does not exist.

A few hours before the meeting, Berisha posted a message to his followers and supporters.

"Cordial greetings in the day we’ll start the discussion for a united, stronger, opener Democratic Party. Long Live the Democratic Party”, Berisha wrote.

Berisha will commence a tour of conversations with Democrats in Tirana to continue later across the country.

Yesterday, members of the Democratic Party Youth Forum required e referendum on the decision to expel Berisha from the parliamentary group.
