The business of bribery has increased significantly in the last six years with the Albanian companies being forced to pay to state officials. This is a conclusion of the World Bank, according to the television Top Channel.
In its Bribery Incidence report for 2019, over 36% of the Albanian businesses have been requested bribery at least once by state officials. The figure is three times higher than the region’s average and twice the world average.
According to the report, the bribe payment requests have increased to 36.1% compared to 20.6% in 2013, which is the time of the previous report. It adds the frequency of bribery request is higher than it was in 2005.
