Schools will shut down across the country next week as Albanian education authorities are not able to provide heating for classrooms. Minister of Education Evis Kushi said the temperatures in several areas may go as low as -17 degrees next week and for three days students will need to stay at home.
“In the coming days we’ll low temperatures that are no ordinary for our country, in some areas they will be as low as -17 degrees Celsius. As the children’s health is our absolute priority, we have decided to shut the school from Monday through Wednesday next week and the missed classes will be substituted at another time”, she said.
The Minister added the decision will be object to review should the forecast result not accurate and temperatures are higher than expected.
