The level of air pollution in the Albanian capital Tirana is twice the norm allowed by the European Union which Albania aspires to join. Transport industry is the sector that plays the main role in the air pollution, followed by the construction industry
The data have been revealed in a report published recently by the Co-Plan Institute for the Habitat Development, which monitored four cities: Tirana, Durrës, Shkodra, and Elbasan during the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020. Quality of urban air, noise level and urban greenery were monitored.
According to the study, the carbon dioxide in Tirana is twice the standard level in the European Union.
