Former Albanian President Sali Berisha has appealed to ethnic Albanians in Macedonia to participate in the name-change referendum and vote in favor of the new name of the country.

Berisha said the Macedonian citizens will vote for their European and Euro-Atlantic future in the first place.

“A historical event for the North Macedonia”, Sali Berisha wrote on his Facebook place.

“Dear friends, on Sunday the citizens of the North Macedonia will vote in a popular referendum for the new name of their country, but as a matter of fact, above all they vote for their European and Euro-Atlantic future”.

“I’d like to appeal to ethnic Albanian citizens of the North Macedonia to participate and vote YES in the referendum, as a real historic chance to sign with their votes a brilliant future for themselves, their children and their country, the membership in NATO and European Union”.
