Prime Minister Edi Rama has mocked and ridiculed Germany, describing it as far behind Albania in terms of digitalization. Rama’s remarks come at a time when German partners have raised concerns over allegedly corrupt tenders and abuses within AKSHI, where a structured criminal group was said to be operating.

While Germany has expressed concerns regarding corruption and abuses tied to the AKSHI case, the prime minister mocked and ridiculed German partners, saying they lag far behind Albania in digitalization.

However, while Rama claims Albania has surpassed Germany, Albania’s Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) launched its investigation into the alleged AKSHI criminal group following information provided by German authorities. The alarm was raised after businessman Gerond Mece reported being held hostage over AKSHI tenders.

Meanwhile, the latest concern raised by Germany’s Interior Ministry relates to the creation of the online bank “JetBank,” allegedly linked to individuals involved in a fraudulent call center scheme.
