The Constitutional Court convened on Tuesday morning to reach a final decision in the case involving Belinda Balluku, but once again failed to issue a ruling.
It seems that two hours of deliberations in chambers were not sufficient to produce a final decision, leading the panel to postpone reconsideration of the lawsuit to a later date.
Meanwhile, the Mandates Council is expected to meet tomorrow to address Balluku’s immunity, after SPAK requested her arrest.
The convening of the council have been delayed since last year, as it had stated it would decide on Balluku’s immunity only after a ruling by the Constitutional Court. However, with the court still having issued no decision, it remains unclear how the case involving the second-highest-ranking member of the Rama government will proceed.
Balluku is accused of rigging the selection of winners in the tender for the construction of the Llogara Tunnel, as well as of violations related to procedures in the Greater Ring Road case.
On October 31, SPAK formally charged her and requested that Parliament lift her immunity and authorize her arrest, arguing that leaving her at liberty poses a risk to the integrity of the evidence.
