From Croatia and Slovenia to Romania, Greece, and Kosovo, Balkan leaders have been invited to participate in the Board of Peace initiated by the U.S. President. Yet Edi Rama is the only leader who has engaged in tasteless propaganda over the invitation.
Some Balkan states, such as Croatia and Slovenia, responded only when asked by the media, simply confirming that they had received the invitation. Kosovo's President, Vjosa Osmani, also recently confirmed receiving an invitation from Trump.
All of this dismantles the farcical narrative promoted by Edi Rama, alongside his circle of journalists and analysts, claiming that he was the only leader in the Balkans to receive such an invitation.
After this claim was exposed as false, Edi Rama was forced to issue a statement regarding the invitation extended by Trump to Vjosa Osmani. In doing so, he attempted to sow division within Kosovo's political scene, suggesting that the invitation may have been influenced by Osmani's personal abilities.
"Once again, congratulations, and I want to believe that Kosovo's political actors will appreciate this outstretched hand from the U.S. President as a gesture that is by no means unrelated to the respect for you personally and for your international role," he wrote.
This attempt to portray the invitations as being addressed to individuals rather than states is, in fact, a manipulation aimed at reinforcing the idea that Trump's invitation to him was personal. In reality, the invitations have been sent to countries, but few leaders have reacted or publicly exploited them to the extent Edi Rama has.
