Prime Minister Edi Rama has continued to promote the invitation extended by U.S. President Donald Trump for Albania’s participation in the Board of Peace. Although he has confirmed Albania’s willingness to support the initiative, Rama still has no travel agenda to attend Davos, where the first meeting of the Board of Peace is expected to take place.

From Syri TV

For the past two days, Prime Minister Edi Rama has sought to present the invitation sent by President Donald Trump to UN member states to establish a Board of Peace for Gaza as a personal recognition. As part of this narrative, Rama has circulated to the media Albania’s response to the U.S. President, confirming the country’s acceptance to join the new international initiative launched by Donald Trump.

While in Albania Rama attempts to position himself as the central figure, suggesting that the American President personally invited him, details emerging from the United States and other sources indicate that the invitation was addressed to the Albanian state and is not linked personally to Edi Rama. As such, it cannot be considered a personal endorsement by Trump of Rama, just as it is not for Vladimir Putin or Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who also received the same invitation.

Moreover, prior to sending invitations to most UN member states, President Donald Trump and the U.S. administration had already planned for the Board of Peace to convene for the first time at the Davos Summit, where the initiators and first members of the Board are expected to attend. Public information regarding the meeting in Davos, as well as sources close to the Prime Minister’s Office, confirm that the Albanian Prime Minister has not planned and does not currently have a trip to Davos on his agenda.

Although the first meeting of the Board of Peace has been publicly announced for two days, Syri TV officially asked the Council of Ministers whether the Albanian Prime Minister would attend, but no official response has been provided so far. It remains to be seen in the coming days whether the Prime Minister will take part in the proceedings, as many other UN member states have accepted President Donald Trump’s invitation.

What is clear, however, is that the U.S. President’s invitation to leaders of dozens of countries is not a personal endorsement but a confirmation of those states’ commitment to the new international organization, which has faced notable opposition from European leaders. For this commitment, the Council of Ministers is expected in the coming hours to seek a parliamentary vote, a procedure that underscores that the invitation is addressed not to Edi Rama personally, but to the Albanian state, as a participant in major international organizations such as the UN and NATO.
