Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha said during his weekly press conference that Prime Minister Edi Rama and his deputy, Belinda Balluku, are continuously destroying evidence.

Speaking from the conference hall at the Democratic Party headquarters, Berisha called for Rama’s immediate resignation and invited citizens to join the opposition’s national protest scheduled for January 24.

“Today more than ever, citizens must speak with their anger, speak with their courage, and speak with their love for this country and for the future of Albanians on January 24, at the national protest called by the opposition for this purpose,” Berisha said.

According to Berisha, a machinery of manipulation and destruction of evidence and documents implicating Edi Rama, Belinda Balluku and their collaborators in a series of serious affairs, involving alleged theft of billions of euros from Albanian taxpayers, is operating without pause.

He further claimed that public administration employees are being intimidated and summoned in a manner resembling secret police practices, pressured either to change their testimony, refrain from testifying, or say only what they are instructed to say.

Berisha also alleged that extraordinary pressure is being exerted on the Constitutional Court.

“In order to protect himself and his crimes, Edi Rama is moving toward a coup d’état,  the de facto destruction of justice in Albania,” Berisha said.

Condemning what he described as irresponsible actions in the strongest terms, Berisha once again demanded Rama’s resignation and removal from office.

“He is today the most dangerous man for Albanians, and not only for Albanians. Through his criminal connections, he represents a serious threat to the region and beyond,” Berisha said.

The Democratic Party called on Albanians, now more than ever, to raise their voices with anger, courage and love for their country and for the future of the nation by taking part in the national protest on January 24 organized by the opposition.
