Speaking about the work of the Brain Gain Department, opposition leader Sali Berisha said that "the injustices toward the Brain Gain Department and the diaspora must be corrected through statutory guarantees."
Berisha acknowledged that complex circumstances meant the Democratic Party (DP) was not fully open to their integration in the truest sense of the word.
"As a result, these young men and women did not receive the positions they deserved within the party's forums," he said. "They did not find the space they merited in subsequent developments."
He stressed that this must be openly acknowledged: the DP has a fundamental problem in its approach not only to this department but also to the diaspora, and it must address it as soon as possible.
According to Berisha, the procedures set by the party lack the universal character a political party should have. "This is not a party only for those who live in Tirana, Tropojë or Gjirokastër; it is also the party of those who live in Paris, London, Berlin, Washington and wherever they may be," he said.
"It is not only the party of its branches in Lezhë, Durrës or Peqin, but also of its branches in Athens, Milan, Paris and elsewhere."
In this context, Berisha underlined, it is essential that these shortcomings be addressed through statutory provisions. "They must be resolved through the party statute," he said.
"The solutions should not depend on the will of the party leader or the leadership. They must be statutory guarantees," Berisha added.
"In this way, we provide the best possible response, correct the injustice done to them and to the diaspora, and ensure that this injustice is finally resolved through clear provisions in the party's statute."
