Today is shaping up to be a high-stakes day, as the Parliamentary Council on Mandates is expected to convene over the case of Belinda Balluku.
Albania’s Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) has requested Balluku’s arrest and is set to defend that request before Parliament.
At the same time, Prime Minister Edi Rama has urgently convened a cabinet meeting.
It remains unclear what will be discussed at the meeting, with speculation filling the void.
Media outlets close to Rama have floated reports about the possibility of Balluku’s dismissal, or even her resignation.
Pressure is also mounting on Prime Minister Edi Rama himself, as he is widely seen as the key figure behind Balluku’s alleged corrupt decisions.
