Berisha called on international justice bodies, including EPPO, OLAF, and the Belgian Prosecutor’s Office, to investigate a secret agreement between Edi Rama and the Harpy Mogherini regarding the construction of the College of Europe campus in Tirana.

The leader of the Democratic Party said the investigation should cover all emails and SMS messages, including communications conducted via the encrypted Sky ECC and Matrix systems, which Rama has used in other suspected cases of international corruption.

Berisha also called for scrutiny of Mogherini’s lobbying on Rama’s behalf in Brussels, the political favors granted to him on various issues, and the cover-up of major scandals, as well as the claimed misuse of EU funds for agriculture, energy, and environmental projects, and the purchase of the EU ambassador’s villa at prices far above market value.

Full statement:

“Therefore, while expressing my highest appreciation for EPPO, OLAF, and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Kingdom of Belgium, I call on them to investigate the secret Rama–Mogherini agreement for the construction of the College of Europe campus in Tirana.

I urge them to examine all emails and SMS messages exchanged between Rama and Lubi Mogherini on this matter and, in particular, to investigate their communications via the encrypted Sky ECC and Matrix systems, which it has been established Rama has used in other cases of international corruption.

The Albanian people would greatly appreciate an investigation into the lobbying Mogherini carried out on behalf of Edi Rama, into his purported “successes” and the covering up of his major scandals in Brussels, and especially into her activities against the Albanian opposition.

I also call on these bodies to investigate the corrupt affairs of Edi Rama and his ministers, including the Mogherini–Vlahutin duo, related to the purchase of the villa for the EU ambassador at a price two to three times higher than market value; to investigate the major abuses by Edi Rama and his officials involving European taxpayers’ funds for agriculture, energy, and the environment, denounced by the opposition in the same way as the Tirana College campus, in the best interests of European taxpayers, but also of Albanian citizens who should have been the true beneficiaries of these funds, which are instead stolen by the kleptocrats of Tirana.

The Albanian opposition, whose mission is the country’s integration into the European Union, is ready to contribute to fully shedding light on these corrupt abuses by the Tirana government.”
