Opposition leader Sali Berisha reacted after Edi Rama posted on social media quoting an American legal scholar who said that “when a prosecutor seeks the person before the crime, justice dies.”

Berisha wrote that Rama’s message amounts to a death threat against the judge and prosecutor handling the Balluku case.

According to Berisha, this is a grave, mafia-style criminal act.

FULL STATEMENT

Ramaduro’s death threat against the judge and prosecutor in the Balluku case is a serious mafia-style criminal act

“Today Edi Rama, Europe’s ‘Ramaduro’, in fear and panic just hours before the appeals hearing on the Special Court decision suspending Balluku from office, openly threatened the judge and prosecutor with death in an unprecedented, mafia-style act.

To send his mafia message, Rama didn’t mail them a bullet in an envelope; instead, he quoted the words of an American prosecutor who, according to him, said:

‘When the prosecutor seeks the person before the crime, justice dies; and when one branch of power enters the territory of another, the democratic constitution can no longer breathe, it suffocates.’

Quoting this passage at the very moment when ‘Harpy’ Balluku, bearing the weight of the €90 million stolen together with Rama, was heading into the courtroom amounted to a direct death threat against those who ordered the suspension of his accomplice, the deputy prime minister.

This is a death threat against officials carrying out their duties, issued by a man willing to commit any crime to cling to power.

This is not a threat about Balluku’s suspension, it is a direct death threat, because in the Llogara Tunnel affair and other scandals, Rama is Thief Number One, with ‘Harpy’ right behind him.

Let me add that in Balluku’s case, every measure and every step has been taken fully in accordance with the law and the Constitution, indeed, applied in the mildest possible manner. Because if the law had been applied rigorously, the Harpy would be in the same position as ‘Lali the Thief,’ and today Rama would be formally charged for jointly stealing €90 million.

Stripping the Harpy of immunity and arresting her would reflect the full letter and spirit of the Constitution when dealing with predatory high-level officials who enrich themselves by robbing their own citizens.

Instead, based on the letter and spirit of the country’s laws, the court ordered the suspension from office of the greatest female thief in the nation’s history.

Naturally, with this decision, the path is also opened for the suspension, immediately after her, of the greatest thief in the country’s history, who today threatens judges and prosecutors with death because he feels the water rising under his feet.

In condemning this mafia-style threat from Edi Rama in the strongest possible terms, I will end this statement as I have before:

Look, look, there goes a dead man and a living man riding on the same horse.
