Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, following his appearance at SPAK, stated that during questioning he was asked about the events of January 21, emphasizing that, according to him, no unlawful order existed in connection with that day.

“I was asked what happened on January 21. The fact that I was not summoned for so many years speaks louder than anything else. The reason was that Edi Rama organized the most violent protest, with a clear agenda of violence. This claim was the reason I was never summoned for a dramatic event that claimed the lives of four demonstrators and injured more than 100 police officers. There was no shooting from inside the Prime Minister’s Office,” Berisha said.

He added that the questioning procedure is normally standard and discreet, but accused SPAK chief Altin Dumani of leaking the summons to the media.

“You’re summoned and you go; that is standard procedure. But Altin Dumani distributed the summons to the media before it reached me, a procedure that should be entirely discreet and unrelated to the media. He made it public for the benefit of Balluku and ‘Ramaduro,’ so that people would not focus on the Llogara scandal but instead on the fact that Sali Berisha is testifying about January 21 after 13 years, for an event in which I was surrounded and the windows of the Prime Minister’s Office were being hit with stones,” Berisha declared.
