Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha condemned Albanian Premier Edi Rama’s proposal for a draft for the Association of Serbian Communes in Kosovo. Rama announced today he has prepared a draft without consulting with Kosovo and has sent it to French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Berisha said it is a serious scandal and the ugliest act in the history of the relations between the two countries.

“Vučić’s servant, under extreme pressure, unfolded himself as a disgusting vassal of one of the authors of the Serbian genocide in Bosnia and Kosovo, of the man that with his ethnic-nationalist policy of Greater Serbia is the main factor of destabilization in the Balkans, and the biggest one in Europe, only behind Putin, Aleksandar Vučić”, said Berisha.  

“Edi Rama today was coerced to announce he has drafted the text of an agreement on the Association of the Serbian-majority communes in Kosovo. It is easily understandable that the text is written in Belgrade and rewritten in Tirana”.

“This act constitutes a blatant interference in Kosovo’s domestic issues on behalf of Belgrade, it is the ugliest act in the history of relations between the two countries, an act that incites instead of calming conflicts”.

Berisha also said the Government of Kosovo has an obligation to cooperate with the international factor.

“As for the Association, I have supported and will support it as a fundamental derivate of freedom. However, I’d like to underscore that the Association can never exist outside the constitutional prerogatives of the Republic of Kosovo. Any association that goes outside this framework would constitute an actual major danger not only for Kosovo but also for the peace and stability in the Balknas Peninsula”.
