Albanian businessman Amant Josifi, wanted by the Spanish authorities for scamming 200,000 European citizens for a total amount of €2.5 billion through a call center, has been a partner of Olsi Rama, the brother of Albanian Premier Edi Rama.

The Albanian television Syri TV has obtained an official document which proves that Olsi Rama and Amant Josifi founded the Pegasus shpk company, whose main activity was focused on telesales through a call center.

The company was registered in May 2014, shortly after Olsi Rama’s return to Albania from the United States, immediately after his brother won the 2013 elections and became prime minister.

The official partnership of Amant Josifi and Olsi Rama continued until January 2018.

It turns out Josifi has strong ties with Edi Rama's government. He served for many years as advisor to Olta Xhaçka during her tenure as Albanian Minister of Defense. Also, he is the son of Pranvera Strakosha, a high official in Edi Rama’s government.

Currently, Amant Josifi is considered by the Spanish authorities as a key figure in a gigantic fraud scheme that affected tens of thousands of European citizens. According to the official data of the Spanish authorities, the organization Josifi worked for scammed over €2.5 billion.

The Spanish police have issued an international warrant for Josifi, who is believed to be hiding in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates. A previous police raid in Tirana to arrest him failed, presumably after being betrayed from an inside job.
