Former Albanian Premier Sali Berisha said on Çim PEKA LIVE on Syri TV he is a member of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, refusing to accept Chairman Lulzim Basha’s decision to expel him, succumbing to pressure from the US Embassy in Tirana.

“September 10 was a historic day for me. A dishonest, unimaginable effort to threaten and take away the parliament’s sovereignty, to dictate to would enter there, failed totally”, Berisha said.

“I guarantee every Albania my goal is not the person Sali Berisha but the sovereignty and dignity of this country, which should not be dictated by anyone as long as it is free and sovereign”.

“I am a member of the Democratic Party parliamentary group. There is a law that decides when an MP is not a member of their political force. Why am I a member of the Democratic Party parliamentary group? Because I ran for the Democratic Party, not independently. Secondly, the Central Electoral Commission mandated Sali Berisha as a Democratic Party MP. Thirdly, Mr. Basha made a TV announcement, violating every letter, every article, every word of the Democratic Party Statute. I have no remarks for his personal thought, but that thought is void unless voted in the National Council needing two thirds of the votes to pass”, Berisha explained why he still is a member of his party’s parliamentary group.
