Socialist Party MP-elect Luljeta Bozo, a retired construction engineer that will open the first session of the new parliament as its oldest member, said no one can stop former Premier Sali Berisha from entering the parliament.

Speaking for the television Euronews Albania, Bozo said Berisha has been voted by the people.

“I believe the United States had a reason for that decision, I don’t doubt it, especially when it comes to a person that has been at the helm for years”, Bozo said, referring to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s decision to ban Berisha and close family from entering the United States on the grounds of “significant corruption”. “But it’s up to him if he will enter the new parliament or not. He’s been voted by the people and there’s no one that can stop him from entering”.
