Albanian Prosecutor General Olsian Çela warned in the parliament today that many MP-elects from the April 25 general elections will not be sure of their places when the new parliament gathers for the first time in September. Çela was reporting in the parliament on the job of the Prosecution Office.

Asked about newly elects that risk losing their mandates, Çela said that the investigation is ongoing.

"In cases where the answers have arrived, there was a need for further verifications, followed by a letter of intent to obtain the results in their total. When these results are complete, we will treat all the data we have collected and we will direct it to the Central Electoral Commission (KQZ)”, Çela said.

The Prosecutor General was asked also about the 28 candidates for whom KQZ had requested in-depth verifications.

“All cases are in process, for some cases the results that we have sent to KQZ have been made public. Other cases are related to issues that need to be verified abroad. Requests have been sent to Interpol, which makes requests in all EU and other countries, and we are awaiting responses from them”, Çela answered.

“However, in cases when the answers were received further verifications were needed, and then a letter was sent to receive the results in their entirety. When these results are complete we will process all the data we have collected and will address it to KQZ”.
