Fatbardh Kadilli, one of the candidates in the race for the Democratic Party’s chairman, accepted the defeat as he finished at the bottom of the list topped by incumbent chairman Lulzim Basha.

However, Kadilli, who was the first to announce his candidature immediately after the opposition loss in the April 25 elections, said the election in the Democratic Party was even worse than the parliamentary election.

"This race offered us a possibility which we could not take advantage of. However, I am not Luli (Basha), I accept the result and the Democrats’ verdict”, Kadilli said. He added he has no intention to leave the party, neither surrender nor create a new party. He said he will continue to fight inside the Democratic Party for a new project for its revival.

Asked whether he had congratulated Basha, Kadilli responded: "The race was unequal, in these conditions I cannot congratulate him, but I respect the verdict”.
