Incumbent Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha posted pictures from three meetings he had today with party members in Tirana in his bid to be reelected in the June 13 elections.

Several members of the party demanded Basha’s resignation after the loss in April 25 general elections, where the opposition did not manage to overthrow Premier Edi Rama’s Socialist Party. Basha did not step down from his post, however new election will take place on June 13 with several candidates for the head of the party.

"We came out of this battle stronger, more united and with a moral grandeur that comes from the strength of people that fight for a just cause, for just ideals, for Albania and Albanians. We are determined more than ever to bring the change that was obstructed only temporarily on April 25”, Basha wrote on his Facebook page.

The Democrat chief did not accept the parliamentary elections outcome, saying it was a criminal massacre and no one should see it as Rama’s win.
