The Albanian Commission of Complaints and Sanctions (KAS) decided today for the opening of ballot boxes from 24 polling stations in the County of Berat per request of the Democratic Party (PD) and Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI). Electoral materials, process-verbal and tables have been gathered as evidence.

Unlike Gjirokastra’s case, KAS may require extra information from the state institution to check possible violations of the Electoral Code in the County of Berat in the April 25 elections.

However, Democratic Party’s legal representative considered the non admission of all evidence from KAS as unilateral.

PD claims the Socialist Party in power bought votes in Berat for 5000 Lek each, accusing the state administration of putting itself at the Socialist candidates’ disposal. LSI claims its mandate was taken for 77 votes, making accusations for serious violations during the voting process.

The Socialist Party deems all the allegations as baseless.
