Albanian Premier Edi Rama has sent police special forces and military police to take control of Tirana’s International Airport, following the strike of air controllers.

Two teams of Rapid Intervention Forces (FNSH) and a team of military police have taken control of TIA as of Thursday morning.

Work at the airport is still suspended. The 65 controllers who led the control in the observation tower are not in the tower, causing cancelation of the flights to Albania.

However, the State Police said the FNSH teams have been sent there for security reasons due to the created situation and they are not related to the air controllers.
