Albanian Premier Edi Rama has repeatedly attacked the opposition recently for the gathering of people in Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha’s electoral meetings. Rama accused the opposition of spreading infections in a time when the Socialist Party has respected the social distancing in its electoral meetings.

“I regretfully say we need a very cautious organization here as well, leaving outside many more people than we have here already, but this is our ethics, our approach to a problem that is the problem of all problems and needs to be solved by all means”, Rama said in his electoral meeting in Bilisht today. “We want to secure the citizens’ health, regardless of their political affiliations. Every live, every Albanian man and woman is a valuable asset of this country, of this community, and we don’t want tp putem them in danger with senseless shows in the middle of a war”.

But, as Rama was attacking Basha, his right hand in the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, apparently stressed out by the enthusiastic meetings of the opposition across the country, organized – using Rama’s language – a “real contagious massacre” by gathering hundreds of people in square.

The pictures from Balla’s meeting help understand how seriously the Renaissance is thinking about the citizens’ health during the pandemic and electoral campaign.

It’s worth remembering that despite Rama’s caution to avoid massive gatherings of the Socialist Party supporters in his meetings, a look in the Facebook pages of his candidates actually shows the madness of indoor celebrations, electoral lunches and dinners with the participation of tens and hundreds of people.
