US Ambassador to Albania Yuri Kim sent a strong message to Albanian Premier Edi Rama, standing firm in her position against the candidacy of persons accused of high-level corruption by the US Department of State.

In a Tweeter post, Kim recalled the ban of leader and MP of the Social Democrat Party Tom Doshi by the Department of State, writing “Albania deserves better”, also raising questions why Rama allows him to run for a seat in the next parliament, which makes people think they are allies.

Kim praised the Democratic Party and its allies’ position to ban from electoral lists candidates that have been accused of corruption.

“We note PD and others do not want in Albanian Parliament someone designated by US for significant corruption. To the others: What are you afraid of? Is it “useful” to stay silent? Why let people think you are “allies”? Is this what you think voters deserve? Albania deserves better”, Kim tweeted.

Ambassador Yuri Kim has continuously conveyed strong messages to stop Tom Doshi from running in the general elections on the grounds of accusations of high-level corruption.
