Albanian President Ilir Meta condemned Premier Edi Rama’s continuous attacks against him and today denounced the latest service to Rama’s goals, offered by the Tema newspaper via fake news.

The President also expressed his belief that the April 25 election will be a plebiscitary vote that will oust Rama’s corrupt regime.

Tema reported about a public meeting of the President in Selenica as an electoral meeting with supporters of LSI, the party he chaired before becoming President of the Republic in 2017 and now led by his wife Monika Kryemadhi.

"The referendum on April 25 will overthrow the oligarchic clique, which has been ripping and deceiving Albanians for a long time, with a plebiscite vote. Their horror is the public commitment of the President of the Republic in defense of the Constitution and free voting. Therefore, with lies orchestrated by the main oligarch and made public in the media captured by him, they remember that they will stop the President from doing his constitutional duty to protect the free vote of the Albanian citizens, which is their power and future”, Meta wrote.

“It is an attempt in vain to use slander, blackmail, intimidation, arbitrary fines, fabrication of false polls to demoralize citizens to vote or by buying "the opposition", which have never defended the public and national interest but think only of their next "meal". Albanians will vote on April 25 for their freedom and dignity like never before in these 30 years. On April 25, Democracy will triumph over oligarchy and citizenship over stupidity. The President has only one vote, like every citizen of this country, and will vote against the oligarchy, which has violated the Constitution, laws and human rights, and which is holding the country's European future hostage”.

The President then responded to Tema: “One more guarantee that the Referendum will triumph on April 25 is the line-up against it of the Tema newspaper, denounced in the report of the European Parliament, as the most unbelievable media in Albania and Europe and as one of the biggest fake news distributors. Here is another proof, the public meeting held in Selenica by the President on January 18, 2021, to talk about the local road issue, was reported by this newspaper as a LSI meeting with veterans".
