Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha honored today the work of the historic President of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova, praising him for setting a foundation stone in Kosovo’s Independence. Basha wrote Rugova was the Albanian who led the largest peace movement in modern Europe and still is an example to follow.
The Democrat chief added Rugova's clear project for a free and independent Kosovo must continue to remain a pole star for the politics of today and the future of Kosovo.
"Ibrahim Rugova, the Albanian who led the largest peace movement in modern Europe, continues to be an example of Europeanism and modern Europe.
His clear project for a free and independent Kosovo in friendship with the United States and a member of the European Union must continue to be a pole star for Kosovo's current and future politics. As a sign of maturity and fulfillment of what the historical leader of Kosovo worked and tried every day", Basha wrote.
Ibrahim Rugova was the President of the partially recognized independent Kosovo from 2002 until his death, on 21 January 2006. Two years later Kosovo declared its Independence, on 17 February 2008.
