An Albanian national called Nik or Niku was mentioned in the recorded conversations of Italian mobsters that speak of him as the person that has the necessary access to the Municipality of Tirana to guarantee construction permits in the Albanian capital, after offering bribes 20% of the investment value to Mayor Erion Veliaj.

Sources with the Socialist Party told MCN TV that Niku is Besnik Halili, a businessman with activity in many sectors, mainly in providing oxygen to the hospital networks.

Besnik Halili owns 100% of shares of NCI sh.p.k. and is the representative of GTS-Gazra Teknike Shqiptare sh.p.k. (Albanian Technical Gas) where the Italian firm Sol s.p.a., mentioned in the wiretaps, is the only shareholder.

Besnik Halili is known in the Albanian politic circles as the husband of Luneda Sufalit, director of the State Social Service, with an active role in the government efforts to tackle the pandemic.

Besnik Halili has a profile in LinkedIn where he says he owns the Dubai-based firm Global Technology Services LLC.
